Questions & Answers
How do I book this retreat?
(a) You simply click on a ‘Book’ button anywhere on our website & fill out the form.
(b) To secure a booking:you must pay us (or our authorised travel agent) a deposit or make full payment if the booking is made within 60 days of your “Retreat Start Date” (i.e. the day you are required to check-in to your hotel at the relevant retreat destination).
(d) You are required to pay the full balance at least 60 days before the Retreat Start Date if you’ve only paid a deposit.
Note that when you submit your booking request, we will treat this as a ‘not-guaranteed’’ booking, at this point the booking is only provisional and is not confirmed. Your booking is accepted and becomes definite only from the date when we send you an e-mail with subject line ‘Booking Fully Confirmed’ to confirm that your booking has been confirmed. For bookings made via our website, any acknowledgement of your booking request we send to you in the meantime is not a confirmation of your booking.
Please refer to the Flamingo Padel Retreat Booking Terms & Conditions (the “Booking Terms” for full details).
What's the difference between a Fancy Stay & Classic Stay?
Accommodation: Fancy stays include a 5-star hotel or equivalent high-end accommodation. Classic stays are typically in 4-star hotels (never below 4 stars).
Welcome drinks: Fancy stays kick off with a welcome drink on us — a chance to meet your fellow retreaters. This isn’t included in Classic stays.
Transport to the Padel Club: If the club is more than a 20-minute walk from your hotel, transport is included with Fancy stays. With Classic stays, you’ll make your own way there — but we’ll provide clear directions and transport options.
Excursion transport: Fancy stays include transport to and from Archipelago on our afternoon out. This isn’t included with Classic stays.
On-the-ground support: On Fancy stays, a dedicated Flamingo guide will be with you throughout the trip. On Classic stays, your guide will be available via WhatsApp or phone for any questions, tips, or updates.
Everything else — padel, sunshine, fun — is exactly the same.
Can I pay in my own currency and what cards can I use?
We accept any card payment from Visa or Mastercard and depending on payment method, also American Express.
We currently accept payments in GBP, EUR and USD for the deposit amount only.* The the final balance payment must be made in GBP.
We generally accept payments made using a prepaid, debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Revolut Pay.
There is more information on currencies and payment methods here.
Just so you know: while we accept payments in multiple currencies to facilitate your deposit payment and make your jet-setter lifestyle a bit easier, we cannot control or predict any additional fees that may be charged by your card issuer, bank, or financial institution. This may include currency conversion fees, transaction fees, or other charges associated with processing payments in your local currency. So it’s always best to consult with your bank or card issuer to understand any potential additional costs you may incur when making a payment.
Are flights and transport from and to the airport included in the price?
No. Timing of flights, from which airport, what cabin, arrival times, etc. – you are the expert in this department, so we leave it to you to book your own flight and transportation to and from airports. Of course, we are always here to assist if you need any help.
How do we guarantee our retreats & When should I book my flight?
In order for a retreat to be guaranteed we require the minimum group size to have been met (typically six people). Once your retreat is confirmed by our team (that’s when you’ve received the ‘Booking Fully Confirmed’ email), you can go ahead and book your flight.
For all destinations it’s a condition of your booking that you purchase flexible flight tickets as well as comprehensive travel & medical insurance.
We will confirm that a retreat is going ahead no later than 30 days prior to the date your retreat is due to start.
Which airport do I need to fly in and out of?
The simplest option is to fly into and out of Stockholm Arlanda, which is Stockholm’s largest international airport.
There are airport trains that take you to the centre of Stockholm. Closer to your retreat, we will provide you with instructions on how to reach your hotel.
What time should my flight arrive (in time for the welcome drinks!)?
We recommend taking a flight that arrives before 12 pm on Day 1, so you can unpack, chill by the pool & freshen up before the welcome drinks (typically around 6pm local time)*.
Please check your package details to see whether welcome drinks are included.
What time should my flight depart on the last day?
It’s your last day, so it’s really up to you. If you can handle it, we offer more padel play (but no coaching) on your last day until you need to catch your flight! If all other fellow flamingos are flying early, we can do our best to hook you up with 3 other Swedish players to play with. Just let us know before your retreat start date.
Do I need a visa?
You can find essential travel advice—including security, local laws, and passport/visa information—on your government’s official website:
- UK residents: Review the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Travel Advice before your trip.
- US residents: Consult the US Department of State Travel Advice for important updates.
- Australian residents: Check the Smart Traveller website for the latest guidance.
- Residents of other countries: Refer to your government’s travel advisory or local consulate for official advice.
Passport and visa requirements can change before departure, so it’s important to stay informed. We recommend having at least six months of validity on your passport and proof of a return ticket.
It is your responsibility to ensure you meet all entry requirements, including visas, travel documents, and any other necessary immigration permissions.
Do I have to share a room and what if I want to upgrade to a room just for me?
All our retreats typically offer two pricing options:
- Shared room – a more budget-friendly option.
- Private room – for those who prefer their own space.
What if I’m a beginner or I’ve never played padel before?
We’ve designed our retreats so that they are suitable for all levels of play. We may indicate for individual retreats a minimum rating requirement.
Otherwise, our coaches will evaluate individual levels at the beginning of the first coaching session to optimise the groups’ coaching experience and assign each retreater a rating (more on ratings here).
Players will typically then be coached in groups according to their rating. In our experience, even if you are a total beginner, you will only need 1 hour of tuition to be able to enjoy padel at the amateur level.
What if I’m an advanced player?
If you are an advanced player with a rating of 5 and above (according to the LTA Padel Rating System), and you feel that you would benefit more from 1-on-1 coaching, then we are happy to arrange that for you at an extra cost.
How do I get to the padel club?
If the partner club isn’t within walking distance or takes more than 15 minutes by public transport, we may arrange private transport to take you there and back — a perk reserved for our Fancy stays. If you’re on a Classic retreat, transport isn’t usually included, but don’t worry — we’ll guide you on the easiest way to get there.
Do I have to participate in all dinners, drinks and other events organised by the FPR team?
In short, no. But we would really love it if you did! Why: (1) from our experience, getting to know your fellow retreaters has a great impact on your overall holiday experience, (2) we’ve carefully selected and tested the Archipelago beach house we are taking you to; you really don’t want to miss out, and (3) it’s included in your package! Please do tell us in advance if you are not participating in any of our activities.
What are 'Friends, Singles & Special Editions’ about?
We’re obsessed about you meeting new people, but we know not every flamingo fancies the same flock! That’s why we’ve crafted tailor-made trips: the ‘FRIENDS EDITION’ for those keen on kindling new friendships, and the ‘SINGLES EDITION’ for the happily single adventurers eager to mingle with fellow solo flyers. And because we love shaking things up, we occasionally launch ‘Special Editions’ – unique, experimental retreats. Right now, we’re excited to offer a Special Edition Retreat specifically designed for folks in their 40’s & 50’s!
What is your cancellation policy?
To cancel your retreat you must tell us in writing (email and by post) as soon as possible. Your notice of cancellation will only take effect when it is received in writing by us and will be effective from the date on which we receive it.
You must pay a termination fee which covers our administration costs and compensates us for the risk that we do not resell your retreat. The fee is based upon how long before your Retreat Start Date you tell us you want to cancel and is a percentage of the total price of your retreat.
Period before your Retreat Start Date within which notice of cancellation is received by us in writing | Cancellation charge as a % of total booking price* |
61 days or more | Loss of deposit (at this point, you will only have paid a deposit amount & not the full booking price) |
60 – 56 days | 70% |
55 – 51 days | 90% |
Less than 50 days | 100% |
Please refer to our Booking Terms for full details.
Do I need travel insurance?
It is a condition of your booking to secure comprehensive travel insurance (including health insurance) before travelling to our retreats.
Are these the terms and conditions applicable to my FPR retreat?
Our Booking Terms are set out on our website, and accepted by you when you book the retreat with us. It can also be downloaded from our website. The terms and conditions contained in our Booking Terms will at all times prevail over any information provided in the FAQ section of our website, the Q&A section of the relevant destination on our website and any other representation (in writing or orally) or document. Accordingly, in the event of any discrepancy or conflict, our Booking Terms will govern.
Please find our Booking Terms here.
Are these FAQs specific to this particular retreat?
Yes. They apply to all Stockholm retreats. Our FAQs on a separate page apply to all our retreats, including this one. We recommend that you take a look at these as well as they may answer other questions you may have re your trip!
Will this retreat itinerary change?
Please be aware that the itinerary, activities and hotels are subject to change. These changes can happen with little notice due to availability, poor weather, seasonal changes, or other circumstances beyond our control – but we’ll always do our best to ensure it has little impact on your experience. From time to time, we may also make changes to your itinerary because the team have explored new places and we think it’s worth shaking things up a bit!
